Do You Want a Digital Picture Frame?

A digital picture frame is the latest gadget for showing off your digital photos. If you're like most people, you have an extensive collection of digital images on your PC or Laptop, but they rarely see the light of day. Enter the digital picture frame.

A digital picture frame lets you show off your digital photo collection to friends and family when they come to visit in a way which will still fit into your home's interior style. Digital picture frames are designed to look like traditional picture frames and come in many colors, styles and finishes so you're sure to find one to match your home's internal furnishings.

Most digital picture frames consist of 3 basic parts - an LCD screen, a PCB to hold the device's software and an outer frame to add to the aesthetics of the device. The frame will normally display either a single picture or a slide show.

Frames come in a variety of sizes with screen sizes of around 7 and 8 inch being common. However sizes from 5 inch right up to 15 inch are readily available.

Almost all digital picture frames come with support for your digital camera's memory card. Compact Flash, Secure Digital, MultiMedia Card and Memory stick formats are readily supported with some offering support for xD-Picture Card format as well. In the most basic models, all you need to do is plug in your memory card and the frame will display your photos either as a single image or as a slideshow.

A nice feature to have in your frame is internal memory. This will allow you to transfer your digital photographs to the memory of the digital picture frame and to continue displaying your photo's even after retrieving your memory card to fill up with more photos. A USB interface is also handy to have in this case. You can transfer images from your computer to your frame's internal memory. If you have a large digital photo collection, this will save you messing around with memory cards, transferring the images piecemeal.

As you go up the price scale, you can expect to see features like built-in speakers and support for various video and music formats.

At top end of the digital picture frame range you will find WiFi enabled models some of which even offer integration to photo sharing sites like Flickr. This way, you can share your photos with friends and family no matter where they are - even if they don't have access to a computer. This is obviously subject to WiFi access.

So as you can see, a digital picture frame has many benefits not only for the more technically minded - but also for the rest of us. And as the technology advances and market penetration improves, digital frames are likely to become more affordable.

Everything You Need To Know About Polaroid Digital Photo Frame

Polaroid as you probably are aware is not a stranger the photo industry and with the popularization of digital photo frame it was normal for them to enter the market.
The frame costs about $250 but it's not a fixed value depending on the near Christmas offer or some other promotion. The Polaroid digital photo frame is internet-connected. It may look like a normal camera, but it isn't.

What can a Polaroid digital photo frame offer to you? You may store up to ten digital photos that you may alternate. You may take your personal photos into special cards with individual message and you may even run small slideshows with your favorite digital photos display.

The Polaroid digital photo frame may be automatically set to turn on and off, and you may connect to Internet channels via Cevia Network. Free membership account with http://www.PolaroidDigital.com enables you to access your Polaroid digital photo frame remotely from any browser.

Every night your Polaroid digital photo frame connects via phone line to your album account at http://PolaroidDigital.com and downloads other ten photos to your Polaroid digital photo frame. The next morning a new slideshow is on.

So far so good, but Polaroid digital photo frame doesn't have a direct possible connection to a PC for downloading pictures. Apparently, there would be a solution for this inconvenient, you could upload the pictures to Cevia web site and from there to your Polaroid digital frame photo, and I don't say this is ok but it's a solution.

Cevia offers you free access for about 3 months. After this little period you are supposed to pay if you want to continue using your Polaroid digital frame photo as before. So, after you $250 on your beautiful Polaroid digital photo frame you need to pay another $8 a month.

The problem is that according to the Cevia web site agreement contract you find out that all your Polaroid digital photos in the frame will be available for them to do whatever they want with them. If they want to put your picture on a stupid advertise you can't do anything about it.

So, after that experience for some people Polaroid digital photo frame was a big disillusion. If you're not comfortable with Cevia policy of accessing your pictures, than you should look for another way of connecting your Polaroid digital photos frame to your computer.

Guides to Buy a Digital Photo Frame

When I look at the old photos, the memories will come back, I seem to return to the past. I like the feeling, I think it is a beautiful thing. A digital picture frame gives you the opportunity to display a variety of pictures or photographs on one simple display. The digital frames are a high tech electronic version of traditional older photo frames that have been specifically designed to use together with the newer generation of digital images. Here are our rules for picking the perfect digital picture frame.

Rule 1: Don't Buy Based on Brand Name Alone

We had high hopes for HP's first digital photo frame, the HP df750 7-inch Digital Picture Frame, for example, so we were surprised to find that the company built it around a dismal LCD riddled with scaling problems that produced jagged, grainy images. This frame also has a hard-to-maneuver menu system that makes it difficult to recommend.

On the flip side, the lesser-known Pandigital used an excellent display in its 8-inch PanTouch Digital Photo Frame touch-enabled frame that delivered quite good images. Our tests showed images with pleasing color accuracy, and the device offers picture adjustments for brightness, contrast, tint, and color for fine-tuning almost any photo to perfection. The bottom line: Always read reviews before you buy!

Rule 2: Select Your Aspect Ratio

Photo frames typically come in one of two aspect ratios, 4:3 or 15:9. By default, most point-and-shoot digital cameras capture photos in 4:3. A frame with an aspect ratio of 4:3 will be the best fit for your photos, as 15:9 frames will have to crop a piece of the top and bottom of your photos to fit the image on the LCD screen. On the other hand, a 15:9 aspect ratio gives your images a pleasing widescreen feel, which might be a better bet for some. One of our high-rated frames, the Sony DPF-V900 9-inch Digital Photo Frame, displays in 15:9. That, together with its slick design and intuitive software, makes it look and feel like a mini HDTV.

Rule 3: Images Are Only Part of the Picture

Superior image quality isn't the most important feature to everyone. Sure, you want to see your pictures clearly and sharply, but ease of use and additional features are also something to consider. In addition, these frames let you view images from online photo sites. If you're tech-savvy, you'll find it simple to set up the frame at your parents' house and upload your pictures to the Web so your family can see them. For those who want to pass the photos around at parties, the Viewsonic DPX702 might do the trick. The frame features an internal battery, which allows up to 1 hour of cable-free photo viewing.

Have you got it? If you want to choose a digital picture frame or some digital products, like digital camera, spy gadgets and so on. Why not come to our online shop? We are sure to make you satisfied. Welcome your visit.

Gao Research Inc.’s Software Modem Replaces Chipset in Ceiva’s Connected Digital Photo Frame

Posted on : 26-12-2009 | By : digital_photo_frames0 | In : Philips

In order to provide connectivity for the device's automatic online photo updates, the suite of GAO modules chosen by CEIVA includes ITU-T standards V.34 compliant softmodem, V.42 error correction software, as well as various telephony modules and Linux drivers. The software allows the digital photo frame to be plugged into an existing phone line and silently dial a local number each night to pick up or send new photos, without interruption to one's phone service, and without charges to the line.

"This is a typical scenario we encounter with many of our customers," said Dr. Frank Gao, president of GAO Research Inc. “By replacing the modem chipset in their design with GAO's highly optimized software solution, CEIVA is able to achieve significant cost savings."

Jim Sepe, Chief Technology Officer, at CEIVA logic said, "When CEIVA decided to upgrade our connected digital photo frames and switch from a hardware to a software based solution, we needed to ensure we retained functionality and remained highly competitive. Our choice of GAO’s software modem solution allowed us to do both." Sepe also commented that, “CEIVA is very pleased with the results. The optimization and performance of GAO software far exceeded our expectations and their after sales support is excellent.”

GAO’s embedded soft-modem and fax packages include a full range of ITU-T compliant modem and fax data pumps and protocols. Modem data pumps include V.92, V.90, V.34, V.32bis/V.32, V.22bis/V.22, V.21, and other standards. Fax data pumps include V.34, V.17, V.29, V.27ter, and V.21 ch.2. GAO’s embedded modem and fax software are fully optimized to run on DSPs and microprocessor platforms including Texas Instruments C5000 and C6000 series, Analog Devices ADSP 218x and Blackfin, ARM7, ARM9/E, and Pentium among others.
